President Rick Holloway (soon to be updated with a real photo!) Rick is the enthusiastic new president of West Carleton Toastmasters. In addition to maintaining the club's lively interaction, he encourages every member to participate in Club activities and to consider an Executive position as part of their learning in leadership skills. Rick also targets attaining the President's Distinguished Club Award through building a strong team spirit and a competent Club Executive. And part of his team is none other than his lovely, kind and capable wife Lori, serving as our SAA!

Past President & VP of Education Sylvain Gagné Sylvain has two roles this term: Not only is he our past president, he also decided to put in another term as V.P. Education, a role he held in 2007, simply because he wants to further improve in this function! Sylvain is one of the "rocks of our club" - without his untiring support the club would not be what it is today! In his life outside of Toastmasters, Sylvain works in the high-tech sector, and supports his family in their endeavours. He has found that communication and leadership skills are frequently neglected, in and out of the workplace, even though they are extremely important elements for anyone - especially in these uncertain economic times. Toastmasters provides an easy and effective way to improve your skills and with Sylvain being our V.P. Eductaion you can be sure that you will get all the support you need!

VP of Membership Linda Sheng Linda Sheng has been an active member of West Carleton Toastmasters since Sept. 2007. Linda has seen a big improvement in her public speaking skills since then. Her goal in 2009 is to finish her CC. As our V.P. Membership, Linda wants to make sure that both members and guests feel welcome in the club, so that they may also achieve their personal communication & leadership goals. Linda has been working in IT Quality Assurance for many years and currently lives in Kanata with her husband and a very cute cat! She enjoys gardening, reading, jogging, swimming, and fishing.

Treasurer Harold Mendes The club treasurer is responsible for maintaining clear financial book-keeping and advising the executive team on budgeting and financial issues. Harold brings lots of experience to this job, as he has served in this role before and we can rest assured that that the coffers of the West Carleton Toastmasters club won't run dry!

VP Public Relations Jake Cole As far as Public Relations are concerned, we could not have asked for anyone more qualified than Jake! Jake is a bilingual professional engineer who has worked for 33 years with the federal government and agencies such as the Canadian Coast Guard in environmental management, renewable energy development, housing energy efficiency and health, and workplace health. In his speeches we often hear stories involving Jake’s wife Susan and his two children Geoffrey and Angela, who are also the reason for some of Jake’s many volunteer activities like coaching community baseball, hockey and soccer and volunteering for the Kanata Scouts. In addition Jake also volunteers for the Canadian Mental Health Association. Jake takes healthy living very seriously and definitely walks the talk! He is the Green Party candidate for Carleton-Mississippi Mills and the Shadow Cabinet member for Health Promotion and also a long standing member of the Canadian Organic Growers.

Secretary Christina Koops (real photo to follow soon!) Christina is one of West Carleton's newest members and she jumped right in by taking the role of Secretary on our Executive! Thank You Christina! One of the projects in Christina's personal life is writing a cook book for allergy sufferers.

Sergeant-at-Arms Lori Holloway (real photo coming soon!) Lori joins her husband and current club President , Rick Holloway, on the West Carleton Executive. Talk about another power team! Lori's quiet and competent manner is sure to keep our meetings well organized! Lori loves Fairy Tales and Science Fiction and has numerous personal stories to share in her speeches. All of us here at West Carleton Toastmasters have benefited from anoher of Lori's passons: her superb baking skills!
